At the request of Botswana’s President and under the oversight of the Minister of Economy, the team undertook a project to evaluate and strengthen the nation’s competitiveness. Working closely with the government’s National Strategy Office, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of Botswana’s overall economic performance, identifying key challenges and opportunities. The outcome was a detailed, actionable policy agenda anchored by a sequenced development plan for five core clusters; each selected for its potential to drive sustainable growth. This work served as the foundation for several subsequent government initiatives, including a formal cluster action agenda in the priority sectors. The plan was later further developed with the support of the World Bank, managing its integration into broader economic policy and implementation frameworks.
