We collaborated with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his administration on developing an economic strategy for the future of New York City. Our work traced the city’s economic development from its founding in the 17th century through 2012, mapping key decisions made by city officials—both past and present, and highlighting the economic challenges faced at the municipal level.
We analyzed the interdependence of economic policies across city, state, and federal levels, while also examining the role of financial systems and cluster performance. To support this analysis, we compiled detailed historical economic and social data, enabling the evaluation of policy outcomes and the validation of plans aimed at making New York City economically and environmentally sustainable by 2030.
