Mauricio Umaña

Mauricio is passionate about helping leaders in the private sector, public officials, NGOs, and international organizations with solutions for complex projects and programs. Additionally, he serves as a member of various Boards of Directors for Business and Trade Associations.

Over the past 20 years, Mauricio has been very active in the practice of Consulting in Financial Management, Business and Project Valuation, Risk Management, Fraud Prevention and Detection, Digital Technology, and Analytics, which has allowed him to accumulate significant comprehensive experience in advising on business matters, public sector issues, and for international organizations.

He holds a PhD in Business Competitiveness and Economic Development and he has been a keynote speaker in El Salvador, Mexico, Spain, England, Ireland, Colombia, Brazil, India, and at Harvard Business School in the United States.

As an academic, Mauricio have been recognized by the Spanish Royal Decree for his doctoral thesis “Sustainability as the Result of Strategic CSR: The Case of El Salvador,” with Cum Laude distinction. Additionally, He is part of the AOM (Academy of Management in the United States) in the SAP (Strategy, Activities, and Practice) group and of EURAM (European Academy of Management) in Europe. He is a Professor in Doctoral Programs in Economics, Business Management, and Master’s Programs in Finance, Strategic Business Management, Technology, and Innovation, currently serving as the Director of Harvard Microeconomics of Competitiveness (MoC) Program for El Salvador.

Mauricio is an Industrial Engineer with an MBA from INCAE Business School in Costa Rica.
