As a strategist, convener, executive, foundation officer, and practitioner, Dr. Scott T. Massey brings more than two decades of pioneering experience in applying Michael Porter’s frameworks for cluster development, competitiveness, and shared value to real-world regional innovation systems. His work integrates economic theory with practical models for universities, civic institutions, and business leaders, advancing globally competitive clusters and leadership networks that align across sectors.
He has authored foundational toolkits—including Handbook for Collective Impact, Economic Cluster Diagnostic, Universities as Innovation Enterprises™, and Handbook for Regional Development—which have been widely used by civic leaders, universities, and policy makers to implement systemic change. His book, Renewing American Culture: The Pursuit of Happiness, was funded by the Ford Foundation and launched at the Library of Congress and at Lincoln Center.
In his executive leadership roles, Dr. Massey currently serves as Founding CEO, Global Action Platform (Nashville); Chairman and Managing Parter, Indigi, PTE (Singapore), and Founding Member, World Agriculture Forum Council (Davos). Previously, he was the Founding President and CEO, Leonard Bernstein Center (New York).
