New York Economic Strategy and Planning

We worked with Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his administration on the economic strategy for the future of New York City. We traced the economic development of New York City from its founding in the 17th century through 2012. We mapped the decisions made by New York City officials, past and present, highlighting the economic development challenges at the city level. We examined the interdependence and interrelation of economic policies at the city, state, and federal levels and explored the role of financial and cluster performance. We gathered detailed historical economic and social data that allows for an evaluation of policy results and to validate the plans to make New York City economically and environmentally sustainable by 2030
